Green: safe
Yes, dogs can eat bananas. The ASPCA lists banana as non-toxic to dogs in its plant database.

Why banana is fine
Banana is soft, easy to portion and popular with many dogs. That makes it useful as a training reward or, mashed and mixed with a little food, as a filling for a chew toy.
What to keep in mind
- Remove the peel: The peel is tough and difficult to digest. Keep it out of your dog’s reach, including when you put it in the bin.
- Small pieces: A few slices are a snack; for a small dog, a whole banana amounts to half a meal.
- Serve it plain: Banana cake, banana bread and desserts contain sugar, fat and sometimes chocolate or sweeteners such as xylitol. These can be dangerous.
- Count it towards the daily allowance: Banana is sweet. Include it in the daily allowance, especially for dogs prone to gaining weight.
What if your dog has eaten too much?
Eating several bananas or a peel can cause constipation, stomach pain or vomiting. Offer water and keep an eye on your dog. Call your vet if your dog stops eating, vomits repeatedly or cannot pass a stool. If your dog ate banana cake or a dessert, check the ingredients for chocolate and xylitol.
If you suspect poisoning, contact your vet or an emergency veterinary service immediately.
